JOHN F. KENNEDY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT ACCESS PROGRAM

PACOTECH™ worked closely with Bechtel (the Construction Manager) and the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey (PANYNJ) to manage many aspects of the project controls on this important program for the region. PACOTECH™ provided CPM Scheduling, Cost Management, Cost Control, Document Control, and LAN Administration services.

AirTrain JFK is an 8.1-mile people mover system that links the airport’s nine passenger terminals to one another, to rental car areas and long-term and employee parking, and to the Long Island Rail Road and New York City subway system. The on-airport portion consists of a two-mile loop linking the passenger terminals with a 3.4-mile extension to airport terminals, short term parking garages, parking car rental facilities and long-term and employee parking lots.

The line runs to the Howard Beach subway station, 12 minutes from the airport. From Howard Beach, passengers are able to connect to the A train, which serves Brooklyn, Queens, and Manhattan. The project also included a three-mile extension north to Jamaica Station and a rehabilitation of the station to permit passengers to take the Long Island Rail Road or E or J subway lines. The Light Rail System was a fully automated system using the most advanced, yet fully service proven rail technology available.
